Golf Course Architect
Very little biographical detail is publicly available for Charles Maddox beyond his role as the original course designer of Old Oakland Golf Club in Indianapolis. He laid out the initial 18‑hole course beginning in 1962–1964, with play commencing by 1965.
Later sources attribute the design of the current 27‑hole configuration—including the East, South, and West nines—to him (sometimes jointly credited with “William Maddox” for individual nines). No reliable records could be located regarding his birth or death years, education, firm, or other projects beyond listings in course‑directory sites.
