Golf Course Architect
Gary Pulsipher is a Michigan‑based golf course architect credited with designing the first 18‑hole course at Manistee National Golf & Resort—The Retreat (originally known as Canthooke Valley)—which opened in 1994. His work is noted for blending naturally into wooded landscapes, making use of existing terrain, and appealing to golfers of all abilities.
Beyond The Retreat, he laid out several other courses in Michigan, including Suttons Bay, Matheson Greens, The Crown, The Leelanau Club at Bahle Farms, and Cutters’ Ridge. His approach emphasizes environmental sensitivity and strategic use of land features.
