Golf Course Architect
Harley Kruse is a Melbourne‑born golf course architect with over 30 years of experience, trained in landscape architecture and horticulture, initially working under Peter Thomson’s firm TWP before joining Greg Norman Golf Course Design and eventually founding KruseGolf. He has led acclaimed projects across Asia‑Pacific, including the Danang Dunes in Vietnam, Settlers Run in Australia and the Norman Course at Mission Hills, and has served as President of the Society of Australian Golf Course Architects.
Kruse is noted for integrating Sandbelt‑inspired design aesthetics into modern renovation work, exemplified by his comprehensive 2020 renovation at Killara Golf Club—rebuilding all green complexes, reversing holes, reshaping bunkers with Capillary Concrete and EcoBunker edging to evoke classic sandbelt style in challenging soil conditions. His work balances strategic playability, aesthetic refinement, and environmental sensitivity.
