Golf Course Architect
James G. Harrison, ASGCA, began his golf course architecture career working with Donald Ross in the early 1920s, and after six years with Ross opened his own practice in the late 1920s.
He designed over 70 courses, most concentrated in Pennsylvania, frequently in partnership with Ferdinand Garbin (including Tannenhauf Golf Club and Sportsman's Golf Course). Harrison was elected an ASGCA member in 1950, served as ASGCA President twice (1955-1956 and 1969-1970), became an ASGCA Fellow in 1959, and remained a member for 45 years until his death in 1995.
