Golf Course Architect
S. Open champion (1976) and PGA Tour winner who later established himself as a respected golf course architect.
After a standout amateur and professional playing career, injury truncated his time on tour and he transitioned into broadcasting and golf course design. Through his firm, Jerry Pate Design, he has overseen the creation and renovation of more than two dozen courses across varied landscapes, including Kiva Dunes, Ol’ Colony Golf Complex, and the redesign of Grasslands Golf & Country Club (originally designed with Bob Cupp) as well as the design of Canebrake Country Club’s 18‑hole course.
