Golf Course Architect
Joe Finger (June 4, 1918 – September 28, 2003) was a chemical engineer by training whose engineering career led him into golf course architecture in the mid‑20th century. S.
S. in chemical engineering from MIT, he entered golf design as a hobby that grew into a distinguished second career.
S. and internationally over a span of about 45 years, including military, municipal, and private facilities, and was recognized by the Texas Golf Hall of Fame.
His work is noted for functional routing, efficient engineering, and respect for natural landforms, exemplified by his design of Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, Texas.
