Golf Course Architect
Labron Harris, Sr. (1908–1995) was an American golf professional and coach who also designed golf courses.
Born in Dardanelle, Arkansas on November 26, 1908, he moved to Wewoka, Oklahoma as a child and later studied at Southwestern State College, graduating in 1935. He became head professional at Guthrie Country Club in 1936 and established Oklahoma A&M’s (later Oklahoma State University) intercollegiate golf program in 1947, serving as coach until 1973, leading his teams to numerous conference titles and an NCAA championship.
Apart from his coaching career, he designed at least two courses: Lakeside Memorial Golf Course in Stillwater, Oklahoma (opened 1945), and Spreading Antlers Golf Course in Lamar, Colorado (a 9‑hole public course built circa 1965–66).
