Golf Course Architect
Larry Gene Nelson (born September 10, 1947) is best known as an American professional golfer and World Golf Hall of Famer who parlayed his competitive success into a modest but meaningful sideline in golf course design. Though primarily celebrated for his three major championships and Champions Tour victories, he’s credited with designing or renovating a handful of courses, notably Legacy Golf Links in Smyrna, Georgia (opened 1994) and Centennial Golf Club in Carmel, New York (opened 1997/1998).
His design philosophy emphasizes working with natural terrain and creating playability for a range of abilities, reflecting his player‑first approach.
