Golf Course Architect
Lawrence E. Van Etten was a civil engineer who applied his technical training to layout golf courses in the northeastern United States in the early 1900s.
He earned an engineering degree (and later a law degree) and worked primarily in residential development, but also designed several golf courses as a pastime, including the original layout along Province Lake’s shoreline around 1913–1918 and the initial New Rochelle layout for Wykagyl Country Club in 1905.
