Golf Course Architect
Maurice McCarthy was a golf course architect active in the 1920s and early 1930s. He designed Marywood Golf Club in Battle Creek, Michigan, which opened in 1926, making use of the rolling, wooded terrain to create a natural and challenging layout.
He also designed the West Course at Hershey Country Club in Pennsylvania around 1930, a venue notable for hosting the 1940 PGA Championship, and he crafted Spring Creek (originally called the Juvenile Golf Club) in 1932, recognized as one of the nation’s first public courses designed specifically for youth play.
