Golf Course Architect
Osamu Ueda (1907–1978) rose from assistant to pioneering Japanese golf course architect, trained under British designer Charles H. Alison.
He played a key role in post‑War restoration of courses like Hirono, later establishing an independent practice that spanned more than fifty courses across Japan over five decades, characterized by strategic layouts that leverage natural topography and borrowings from traditional landscape techniques. Notably, he was responsible for the design of Banshu Toyo Golf Club in Hyōgo Prefecture, among many others.
