Golf Course Architect
Peter Erling Jacobsen (born March 4, 1954) is best known as a successful American professional golfer and commentator, but since the early 1990s he has also established a significant career in golf course design. A founding partner of Jacobsen Hardy Golf Course Design (with Jim Hardy and Rex VanHoose), he has been personally involved in designing courses such as Moorpark Country Club (opened 2002/03 in Moorpark, California) and The Golf Club at Gray’s Crossing in Truckee, California, among others.
His design approach emphasizes playability, strategic challenge, and enjoyment for both average and skilled golfers, drawing on his extensive playing experience to shape course layouts that are fun yet demanding; projects typically feature his careful, hands-on involvement. His design career includes over a dozen courses and renovations dating back to the late 1980s.
