Golf Course Architect
Rick Jacobson is an American golf course architect based in Libertyville, Illinois. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin around 1980 with a degree in landscape architecture, he gained valuable early experience working with Packard, Inc.
in Chicago and as an assistant designer at Jack Nicklaus Golf Services. , which has since designed and renovated many courses, notably including The Club at Strawberry Creek in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Jacobson’s design philosophy emphasizes enhancing the natural landscape rather than transforming it, striving to craft courses that are both visually engaging and strategically challenging. His portfolio spans new course designs such as Augustine Golf Club in Virginia and international projects in Japan, as well as restoration work on classic courses.
He is a member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects and is known for his thoughtful integration of native elements into his designs.
