Golf Course Architect
Winiford C. Trout was appointed by the city of Jackson in 1914 to design Ella Sharp Park.
Beginning development in 1915, he laid out the park’s roadways and recreational areas—picnic spaces, play areas, tennis courts, ball diamonds, gardens—and notably the golf course, also serving as park supervisor for over two decades. He lived on-site in what later became the Ella Sharp Museum’s house.
