Origins

Aguilón Golf opened in 2008 at Pulpí in Almería province, with Stirling & Martin responsible for the design.

Design Philosophy

The architects routed the course through and around the site's natural barrancos, incorporating substantial bunkering and six lakes. The design uses the existing broken terrain as a central strategic element rather than flattening the property into conventional fairway corridors.

Development

The course has remained an 18-hole layout since opening. Current federation records list it as par 70, while older architect portfolio material describes the original configuration as par 71.

Recognition

Aguilón has been repeatedly promoted for its desert-style design, including the club's use of the phrase 'El Mejor campo de golf desértico de Europa.'

Today

Aguilón operates as an 18-hole public-access course at Pilar de Jaravía, Pulpí.
