Albany Golf Club is an 18-hole coastal course at Middleton Beach in Albany, Western Australia. The club was established in 1899 after local residents began pursuing a golf course among the Middleton Beach dunes in 1898, and the original nine-hole course opened on 3 February 1900. Surveyor William Angove laid out the first course, while club member Bill Anderson designed the 18-hole configuration completed in 1963.
The Blue course measures 6,068 metres and plays to par 72; White measures 5,487 metres on the club's current card and Red 5,289 metres. Visitors are accepted for social golf outside competition times, with current fees of A$70 for 18 holes and A$45 for nine. The course is listed on the Western Australian State Register of Heritage Places and is also classified by the National Trust.
The course is an 18-hole links golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,068m (6,636 yards). Designed by William Angove, the course originally opened in 1900. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Pro Shop, Golf Lessons, Club Hire, Pull Buggy Hire, Electric Cart Hire, Practice Range, Putting Green, Restaurant, and 1 more.
The idea for a golf course in the Middleton Beach dunes was advanced in 1898, with Albany Golf Club formally established the following year. Surveyor William Angove laid out the original nine holes, which opened on 3 February 1900.
Angove used the natural coastal dune system as the basis for the original course, giving Albany a layout strongly influenced by traditional links terrain.
Plans for 18 holes were delayed for decades by war and economic disruption. Club member Bill Anderson designed the eventual 18-hole configuration, completed in 1963. Later changes included the rerouting of Golf Links Road, naming the holes in 1988 and renumbering associated with the current clubhouse development.
The course's heritage significance is formally recognised through the Western Australian State Register of Heritage Places and National Trust classification.
Albany remains on its historic Middleton Beach property and welcomes public social play around club competition times, with online public bookings now available.
