Origins

Anahita was created as the golf centrepiece of a 213-hectare east-coast Mauritius estate. Ernie Els designed the course to use the lagoon, coastline and existing landscape as integral parts of the routing, and it officially opened in 2008.

Did You Know?
Existing dry-stone walls were retained and incorporated as strategic hazards.

Design Philosophy

Els has described the routing as moving in and out of trees and along the water to maximise variety while preserving the coastline. Existing dry-stone walls were retained as hazards, while burns and grass-faced bunkers add further strategic features.

Development

Since opening, the club has continued to invest in practice and teaching facilities, including improvements to the short-game area, radar-based instruction technology and a Callaway fitting centre.

Recognition

Anahita has hosted international professional golf, including the 2016 and 2018 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, tri-sanctioned by the DP World Tour, Asian Tour and Sunshine Tour.

Today

The course remains part of the Anahita resort estate and operates alongside extensive practice and instruction facilities.
