Annie Lake Wilderness Golf Course is a public 18-hole wilderness course south of Whitehorse in Yukon, Canada. S. Army personnel during the Second World War and is described by the local community association as Yukon's first golf course.
Unlike conventional modern golf facilities, Annie Lake retains sand greens that players sweep after use and a deliberately rough boreal-forest setting. The current published course totals are par 66 and 4,098 yards, with a 2,162-yard, par-33 front nine and a 1,936-yard back nine. The club was incorporated as Whitehorse Golf and Country Club in 1949, renamed Annie Lake Golf and Country Club in the 1970s and expanded through clearing and redesign work.
The course is an 18-hole golf course. It plays to par 66, 4,098 yards. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Putting Greens, Practice Area, Picnic Tables, Children's Play Area.
The course was first cut as a nine-hole layout by U.S. Army personnel during the Second World War. In 1949 local cattle grazer Steve Veerman relinquished rights to the land and the organisation incorporated as Whitehorse Golf and Country Club.
Volunteer Sunday work parties in the 1950s cleared fairways, cut survey lines and filled gopher holes. The first recorded tournament was held on July 10, 1955. During the 1970s the club adopted the Annie Lake Golf and Country Club name, cleared more trees for another nine holes and redesigned several original holes.
Membership reached about 130 by 1980. Annie Lake remained the Yukon's main golf centre until Mountain View Golf Course opened in Whitehorse in 1987. A major 2021 refurbishment installed new tee boxes and improved the putting greens, practice area, driving range, parking, picnic facilities and children's area.
The course is maintained as a low-cost community wilderness facility. It remains a day-use site with sand greens and a C$5 non-member drop-in fee rather than a conventional commercial tee-time operation.
