About Ballycastle Golf Club

Ballycastle Golf Club is an 18-hole coastal course on Northern Ireland's Causeway Coast. Founded in 1890, its routing has an unusual split character: the opening five holes are parkland in nature beside the Margy and Carey rivers, while the course then moves into links terrain beside the strand, gorse and dunes. The club's visitor information specifically identifies the transition from parkland to links from the sixth hole onward.

A published white-tee card measures 5,876 yards at par 71, with alternative green and red tees also available. Visitors are accepted, although the club publishes time restrictions on Fridays and weekends and recommends advance booking during the main May-to-September visitor season. The historic ruins of Bonamargy Abbey feature beside the early portion of the course and form an out-of-bounds boundary.

The course is an 18-hole links golf course. It plays to par 71, 5,373m (5,876 yards). The course originally opened in 1890. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Pro shop, Putting green, Chipping green, Restaurant, Changing rooms, Life Membership.

Design Philosophy

The course's defining structural feature is its change of landscape. The first five holes occupy parkland beside the Margy and Carey rivers; from the sixth onward the routing moves toward coastal links ground beside the strand, gorse and dunes.

Today

The club remains open to visitors, with published tee-time restrictions at parts of the weekend and advance booking encouraged during the principal visitor season.
