About Beverly Golf & Country Club

Beverly Golf & Country Club is a private, member-owned golf club in Copetown, Ontario. A group of founders formed a non-profit corporation in 1957, purchased farmland in what was then Beverly Township and hired Canadian architect Clinton E. 'Robbie' Robinson to design the golf course.

Origins

In 1957, five founding members and their associates formed a non-profit corporation and purchased farmland in Beverly Township. They retained Clinton E. 'Robbie' Robinson to design an 18-hole course.

A swimming pool was built first, followed by the first nine holes, which opened in 1959. The second nine was completed in 1960.

Did You Know?
The club's swimming pool was completed before the golf course and was the first operating country-club facility.

Design Philosophy

The founders asked Robinson for a spacious course with individual holes, varied shot values and routing that avoided repetitive parallel fairways. Robinson used the naturally rolling property, creek and lake while large-scale tree planting helped define the holes over time.

Development

Thousands of maples, oaks, tamaracks and willows were planted during the construction period and matured into the wooded corridors present today.

Today

Beverly remains a private, member-owned golf and country club and annually marks its origins with a Founder's Day Tournament.
