Borre Golfbane is an 18-hole championship course beside Borrevannet near Horten in Vestfold. The idea for the golf development emerged in 1987 as the owners of Semb Hovedgård considered alternative uses for agricultural property and empty farm buildings. Swedish architect Tommy Nordström was commissioned to design the course.
The first nine holes were ready in 1990 and the full 18-hole course followed in 1991. Borre is described by the club as a relatively open mixture of parkland and woodland with moderately undulating terrain and a reputation for plateau greens. It became an important Norwegian tournament venue early in its history, hosting the Karsten Ping Norwegian Open in 1994 and Netcom Norwegian Open in 1998 as European Challenge Tour events, as well as national and international amateur championships.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 73, 6,010m (6,573 yards). Designed by Tommy Nordström, the course originally opened in 1990. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Pro Shop, Restaurant, Clubhouse, Practice Facilities.
The concept for Borre Golfbane emerged in 1987 at Semb Hovedgård as the property's owners considered alternatives to traditional agriculture. Advice was sought from the Swedish Golf Federation and Tommy Nordström was appointed architect. Nine holes opened in 1990 and a full 18-hole course was available the following year.
The course was sold to Einar C. Nagell Erichsen in 1997. Nine additional holes opened in 2005, creating a 27-hole facility.
Falling membership contributed to the decision to close the additional nine in 2013 and return to the original 18-hole configuration.
Borre staged Norway's first professional golf tournament, the Karsten Ping Norwegian Open, in 1994 and later hosted another European Challenge Tour event in 1998.
Borre is again an 18-hole championship course, with a clubhouse, restaurant, golf shop and practice facilities.
