BraeBen Golf Course is a City of Mississauga municipal golf facility with an 18-hole Championship course and a separate nine-hole par-3 course. The main Championship layout opened in 2005 and plays to par 72 over 6,335 yards from the Black tees. Ted Baker & Associates designed the golf facility on the former Britannia landfill site, where an interim 18-hole executive course had opened in 1999 while the larger project was being developed.
The completed facility uses elevated, rolling ground and was deliberately influenced by traditional links golf, although it is an inland municipal course rather than a true seaside links. The Championship course has four published tee sets ranging from 4,827 to 6,335 yards. BraeBen also provides a driving range, putting and chipping greens, practice bunkers, golf instruction and the nine-hole short course.
The course is a 27-hole golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,335 yards, course rating 72 and slope rating 130. Designed by Ted Baker & Associates, the course originally opened in 2005. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Putting Green, Chipping Green, Practice Bunkers, Golf Instruction, Pro Shop, Clubhouse, Pub, and 2 more.
Golf development on the site began with an interim 18-hole executive course designed by Ted Baker & Associates, which opened in 1999 while the former landfill was being transformed into a larger municipal recreation property.
Ted Baker's design drew on visual and strategic ideas encountered during visits to traditional links courses, creating broad elevated ground, exposed contours and bunker forms intended to evoke aspects of Scottish and Irish golf despite the inland Ontario location.
The interim course was followed by construction of the present 18-hole Championship course, a nine-acre practice facility, putting and chipping greens, practice bunkers and a nine-hole teaching course. The clubhouse, maintenance facilities and complete golf complex opened in 2005.
BraeBen is operated by the City of Mississauga as a public municipal golf facility with separate Championship and par-3 options, resident booking benefits and extensive practice facilities.
