Brough Golf Club is an 18-hole inland parkland course in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Golf began on the site in 1891, when Leonard West introduced the game to a small group of local players, and the club was formally recognised by the R&A in 1893. The original course contained nine holes; additional land enabled an 18-hole layout to be created in 1905, with later extensions and improvements recorded in 1933 and 1955.
The white course measures 6,064 yards and plays to par 68. Its unusual par distribution includes five par 3s and only one par 5, placing a premium on positional play rather than simply length. The club remains on Cave Road in Brough and retains a clubhouse acquired with three acres of land in 1925.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 68, 5,545m (6,064 yards). The course originally opened in 1891. It is semi-private, welcoming both members and visitors. On-site facilities include Pro Shop, Clubhouse, Restaurant, Bar, Terrace.
Brough's recorded history starts in 1891, when Leonard West returned from Scotland with a cleek and ball and persuaded Dr R. A. Mossman to try the game.
A meeting at the Ferry Inn followed and the group agreed to establish a nine-hole course and purchase a wooden building for use as a clubhouse. The R&A officially recognised the club in 1893.
Further land was obtained in 1905, allowing the course to expand to 18 holes. The present clubhouse was purchased with three acres in 1925 for £3,750. Further land acquisitions allowed the course to be extended and improved in 1933 and again in 1955.
Brough remains an 18-hole parkland club at Cave Road, retaining both its historic clubhouse and a course whose modest overall length is offset by an accuracy-oriented par-68 configuration.
