Burleigh Golf Club is an 18-hole members club in Miami on Queensland's Gold Coast. The club was founded in 1950, although the present course developed in stages: an initial five-hole circuit was used in 1955, the first nine were in play by November 1956, and foundation member Bill Patterson designed the second nine in 1959. Burleigh describes the current course as having an undulating parkland-style front nine and a sandbelt-influenced back nine, with around 50 bunkers and Bermuda putting surfaces.
It is primarily a private members club, but member guests can play and limited visitor access is available to golfers who hold current membership of a recognised bricks-and-mortar club. Practice facilities include a driving range, putting and chipping greens, bunker practice area and nets. The club also operates a pro shop, clubhouse bar and dining facilities.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. Designed by Bill Patterson, the course originally opened in 1950. It is open to members and their guests. On-site facilities include Driving range, Putting green, Chipping green, Practice bunker, Driving nets, Pro shop, Clubhouse, Bar, and 3 more.
The club was founded in 1950 by a small group of local golfers and families who undertook extensive volunteer work including land clearing, fundraising, road work and clubhouse construction. The first official game over a five-hole circuit was played in 1955.
The course evolved rather than arriving as a single architect-designed project. Its modern identity combines an undulating parkland front nine with a more sandbelt-influenced back nine.
Nine holes were in play by November 1956. In 1959 Bill Patterson designed the second nine. The club changed its name to Gold Coast Burleigh Golf Club in 1970 and has continued to refine the layout and facilities.
Burleigh operates as a private members club with limited visitor access, an 18-hole course and extensive practice and clubhouse facilities.
