Canterbury Golf Club is an 18-hole par-71 parkland course on Littlebourne Road in Canterbury, Kent. Harry Shapland Colt surveyed and planned the course during the 1920s, and it officially opened in July 1927. The present layout measures 6,272 yards and occupies land at Scotland Hills that was originally leased from the War Office.
Although Colt's design began with a stronger heathland character, decades of tree growth have produced the mature, tree-lined parkland setting seen today. The club says relatively few major alterations have been made to the original routing. The facility now includes a TopTracer-equipped driving range, clubhouse, professional services and golf instruction, while both members and visitors can play the main course.

Golf had been played on military land around Canterbury as early as 1892, but attempts to establish a permanent new course in 1909 and 1913 failed. A renewed effort in 1924 led to negotiations with the War Office, which agreed in 1925 to lease approximately 160 acres at Scotland Hills. Funding was raised through debentures and additional land was acquired before Harry Shapland Colt surveyed the site and prepared the course plan.
Colt laid out the course across the Scotland Hills property with the strategic variety associated with his work. The club notes that its original heathland character gradually evolved as trees matured, producing the present woodland and parkland appearance without fundamentally replacing Colt's routing.
Nine holes were expected to be ready in spring 1927 and the official opening followed in July that year with a match between the club and the Buffs Golfing Society. A ladies' section was formed the following month. The club states that only relatively minor changes have subsequently been made to the original course.
Canterbury remains an 18-hole par-71 club with a 6,272-yard course, clubhouse and modern TopTracer driving range.
