Cantigny Golf is a 27-hole public golf complex in Wheaton, Illinois, comprising the Woodside, Lakeside and Hillside nines. Roger Packard designed the original course, construction began in 1986, and play started in 1989; its formal dedication was held on June 5 that year. Golf Digest named Cantigny Best New Public Course in America when it debuted.
Jacobson Golf Course Design updated the facility in 2003. A second major redevelopment began in 2024 under Todd Quitno of Quitno Golf Designs, with Hillside completed first, the renovated Lakeside reopening in June 2026 and Woodside scheduled as the final phase through 2027. S.
The course is a 27-hole parkland golf course. Designed by Roger Packard, the course originally opened in 1989. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Golf Academy, Driving Range, TrackMan Range, Putting Green, Caddies, Pro Shop, Club Hire, Restaurant, and 4 more.
Cantigny Golf was created on the former estate of newspaper publisher Robert R. McCormick. Construction began in 1986, was substantially completed in 1988 and public play began in 1989.
Roger Packard designed the three nine-hole courses and Wadsworth Construction Company built them.
Jacobson Golf Course Design updated the facility in 2003. A much larger phased renovation began in 2024 under Todd Quitno. Hillside was rebuilt first, Lakeside reopened in June 2026, and Woodside is the final construction phase, with project completion targeted for 2027.
Golf Digest selected Cantigny as Best New Public Course in America immediately after its debut, and the facility subsequently became a recurring championship venue for Illinois amateur golf.
Cantigny is owned by the Robert R. McCormick Foundation and managed by KemperSports. Eighteen holes remain available while the final renovation phase proceeds.
