Claremont Golf Club is an 18-hole golf course in Claremont, in Hobart's northern suburbs, Tasmania. The current Blue-tee layout is a par 69 measuring 5,362 metres, while the Red women's course measures 4,964 metres and plays to par 72. The property is bordered by the Derwent River on three sides and has views toward kunanyi / Mount Wellington and Mount Direction.
Claremont Golf Club was formed in 1928, with University of Tasmania archives documenting its official opening that year. The course later developed into its present scale: planning documentation prepared for Glenorchy City Council records that it was expanded to 18 holes in 1959 and sold to Claremont Golf Club in 1973. The club describes itself as a private golf club with public access, and visitors can book rounds directly through the club.

Golf at Claremont developed alongside the Cadbury industrial community on the Derwent River. University of Tasmania archival photographs show golf being played in the area during the 1920s, including an image whose annotation refers to lunch-hour golf in about 1926 as the origin of Claremont Golf Club. The same archive preserves material from the club's official opening in 1928, advertised in the Illustrated Tasmanian Mail on 29 August that year.
Claremont Golf Club's own membership documentation states that the organisation was formed in 1928, and a 2018 club newsletter marked its 90th year of operation. These records establish a continuous club identity dating from the interwar period even though the course itself later changed substantially.
The present 18-hole scale of the property was not in place from the club's earliest years. A 2025 planning document prepared for Glenorchy City Council in connection with the nearby Cadbury industrial estate records that the golf course was expanded to 18 holes in 1959. That document also states that the course was sold to Claremont Golf Club in 1973.
This helps explain why some third-party databases incorrectly list 1973 as the course's opening date: it appears to reflect the club's acquisition of the property rather than the beginning of golf at Claremont. No authoritative source located in this research identified a named architect for either the original course or the 1959 expansion.
Claremont now operates as an 18-hole private club with public access in Hobart's northern suburbs.
