Cloverleaf Golf Course in Alton, Illinois is a family-owned public course whose history began on the Gabriel family's dairy farm. The Gabriels purchased the property in 1913. In the late 1920s Paul Gabriel developed the idea of converting the farm to golf, and the first nine holes opened on Memorial Day 1931.
A second nine followed in 1932, creating the 18-hole course. The former dairy barn became the clubhouse, preserving a direct connection with the site's agricultural past. The course plays to par 70 and remains operated by descendants of the Gabriel family.
The course is an 18-hole golf course. Designed by Paul Gabriel, the course originally opened in 1931. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Clubhouse, Cart Hire.

Construction proceeded during the onset of the Great Depression, with the first nine holes opening on Memorial Day 1931 and the second nine in 1932.
Paul Gabriel developed a strong public-golf business despite the economic conditions of the 1930s, sometimes accepting barter from players. After his death in 1963, his wife Dorothy continued running Cloverleaf, and later generations of the Gabriel family maintained the operation.
Cloverleaf remains a family-operated public golf course, with the former dairy barn still serving as its clubhouse.
