The Dunes Course is the original golf course at Costa Navarino in Messinia, Greece. It opened in May 2010 as Greece's first signature-designed golf course and was created by Bernhard Langer in association with European Golf Design. The championship configuration measures about 6,018 metres and plays to par 71.
The routing changes character across the property: sections nearest the sea incorporate links-style features, while inland holes pass through olive and fruit groves, and several holes interact with the Sellas River. Large greens, broad fairways, pot-style bunkering and the site's existing contours are recurring design elements. The project was also influenced by archaeological discoveries made during construction; early Costa Navarino material states that the design was adjusted to protect remains found on the property.
The course is an 18-hole resort golf course. It plays to par 71, 6,017m (6,580 yards). Designed by Bernhard Langer and European Golf Design, the course originally opened in 2010. It is open to resort guests. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Putting Green, Pro Shop, Golf Academy, Restaurant, Accommodation.
The Dunes Course formed a central part of Captain Vassilis Constantakopoulos's plan to develop Messinia as an international, year-round golf destination. It opened in May 2010, becoming the first signature-designed golf course in Greece.
Bernhard Langer and European Golf Design responded to several distinct landscapes on the site. Areas near the sea use links-like characteristics, inland holes move through olive and citrus groves, and several holes follow the Sellas River. Early project material also states that the design was modified to preserve archaeological remains uncovered during construction.
The Dunes was followed by The Bay Course in 2011 and later by The Hills Course and International Olympic Academy Golf Course, transforming Costa Navarino into a four-course destination.
The Dunes became an important part of Costa Navarino's subsequent international golf-resort recognition and has featured in major continental resort rankings.
The course remains the golf centerpiece of the Navarino Dunes area alongside The Romanos and The Westin Resort Costa Navarino.
