Dalmahoy's East Course is the championship-length of the resort's two 18-hole golf courses near Edinburgh. James Braid designed the course in 1927. The current White course measures 6,916 yards, plays to par 73 and carries a published course rating of 74.1 with slope 134; the Yellow course is 6,653 yards.
The routing occupies parkland within the Dalmahoy estate rather than coastal links ground. Its competitive history is substantial: the East Course hosted the 1992 Solheim Cup, where Europe defeated the United States 11.5-6.5 for Europe's first victory in the competition. It has also hosted the European Amateur Championship and professional events.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 73, 6,916 yards, course rating 74.1 and slope rating 134. Designed by James Braid, the course originally opened in 1927. Dalmahoy's golf history developed around its country estate outside Edinburgh. James Braid designed the East Course in 1927, creating the longer of the property's two present-day layouts.
Braid's course works through rolling inland parkland rather than links terrain. Its length and configuration made it suitable for championship golf while retaining the established landscape of the estate.
The resort subsequently added and developed the West Course as a separate layout while the East became the principal tournament venue. Practice infrastructure has also expanded, including a driving range that was refurbished in 2019.
The East Course's defining tournament moment came in October 1992 when it hosted the second Solheim Cup. Europe defeated the United States 11.5-6.5, recording its first victory in the competition. The course has also staged the European Amateur Championship and professional events.
Dalmahoy continues to operate the East and West courses as part of a hotel and country-club complex with practice, professional, dining, accommodation and leisure facilities.
