About Don Golf & Country Club

Don Golf & Country Club is a golf development at Starocherkasskaya in Rostov Oblast, near Rostov-on-Don. The course was designed by German architect Volker Puschel and construction is credited by regional tourism sources to Mokinski & Co. Current golf-course databases document a playable nine-hole, par-36 routing measuring 3,158 yards from the black tees, while a Rostov tourism listing describes the broader project as an 18-hole championship course.

Because those sources conflict on the number of completed holes, this record uses the nine-hole configuration for which a complete scorecard is available and flags the 18-hole description for review. The course uses the open landscape of the Don region, with lakes incorporated into the site. The larger Don Golf Resort project has been described as covering approximately 500 hectares and has included plans for accommodation and other country-club facilities.

The course is a 9-hole links golf course. It plays to par 36, 2,888m (3,158 yards). Designed by Volker Puschel, the course originally opened in 2007. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Café, Clubhouse, Restaurant.

Origins

Don Golf & Country Club was developed near the historic stanitsa of Starocherkasskaya as part of a much larger country-resort project. Volker Puschel designed the golf course and German course builder Mokinski & Co was credited with its implementation.

Design Philosophy

Published descriptions emphasize preservation of the site's open natural landscape, with lakes and shaped ground integrated into the golf routing. The documented nine-hole scorecard contains two par 5s, two par 3s and five par 4s.

Development

Sources disagree over the completed scale of the golf component. Regional tourism material describes an 18-hole championship course, whereas current golf databases publish a nine-hole scorecard. The wider resort concept covered hundreds of hectares and included hospitality development.

Today

A nine-hole course is the configuration that can currently be supported by complete public scorecard data. The 18-hole description should be independently verified before the database is expanded to 18 holes.
