Dragon's Fire Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 semi-private course in Flamborough within Hamilton, Ontario. The course opened to the public in June 2008 after approximately three years of development and was designed by Boris Danoff. It occupies about 200 acres of a former tree farm, leaving mature maples, mountain ash, spruce and other established trees throughout the routing.
From the Black tees, the official scorecard measures 7,202 yards with a course rating of 73.0 and slope of 131. The layout contains roughly 80 bunkers as well as natural hazards, rolling terrain and wooded boundaries. The official course description says tee options extend down to roughly 5,100 yards, making the course playable across a wide range of abilities.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 72, 7,202 yards, course rating 73 and slope rating 131. Designed by Boris Danoff, the course originally opened in 2008. It is semi-private, welcoming both members and visitors. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Grass Tee Driving Range, Putting Green, Chipping Green, Practice Bunker, Pro Shop, Golf Lessons, Teaching Academy, and 4 more.
Dragon's Fire was developed on a former tree nursery in the Carlisle-Flamborough area north of Burlington. The project spent approximately three years in development before opening to the public in June 2008. Bryan DeCunha later stated in a sworn affidavit that he had developed Dragon's Fire Golf Club after shifting his focus away from his earlier Royal Ontario Golf Club project in 2006.
Contemporary coverage published immediately before the opening identified Boris Danoff as the course architect and reported a planned opening date of June 9, 2008.
Danoff's routing retained the former nursery's mature vegetation as a major part of the design rather than creating a newly planted landscape. SCOREGolf's June 2008 review noted how mature trees frame most holes and described the routing as unusually friendly to walking. The club itself says the course was intended to remain enjoyable for the average golfer while becoming substantially harder from the rear tees.
That approach is reflected in the wide spread of teeing distances, from roughly 5,100 yards to 7,202 yards, and in a design containing about 80 bunkers, rolling terrain and natural hazards. The par-5 13th reaches 633 yards from the Black tees, while the short par-4 15th is only 321 yards from the same markers and provides a very different strategic problem.
The course's basic routing has remained identifiable with the original 2008 Danoff design. Operational development has focused on conditioning and supporting infrastructure. The club highlights continuous cart paths, strong drainage, satellite-controlled irrigation and an ample water supply.
Practice infrastructure includes a grass-tee driving range, target markers, a large putting green, chipping green and greenside practice bunker. A teaching academy has also become part of the operation.
Recognition came almost immediately after opening. Dragon's Fire won several inaugural-year distinctions cited by the club, including Best New Course in the GTA, Best Par 3, Best Par 5 and Best Service, together with a Readers' Choice Diamond Award for Best Golf Course across several surrounding communities. SCOREGolf placed Dragon's Fire fifth on its 2008 list of Canada's best new courses, explicitly crediting Boris Danoff.
The club also records being selected among Canada's top five new courses and receiving a Textron award for excellence and achievement in the golf-course industry.
Dragon's Fire operates as a semi-private daily-fee course with public tee-time access. The official 2026 rate structure includes weekday, weekend, twilight, senior, junior, EMS and replay pricing. The club also runs men's and women's leagues, golf instruction, tournaments and private events.
The course remains defined by the mature trees inherited from the former nursery, its extensive bunkering and its range of teeing options.
