Dumbarnie Links is an 18-hole modern links on the south coast of Fife between Upper Largo and Elie. Designed by former Ryder Cup player Clive Clark, it opened for play in May 2020 after a project that had been contemplated for more than twenty-five years. The regular back-course configuration is approximately 6,900 yards and par 72, while additional tees allow substantially shorter playing lengths.
Clark reshaped what had originally been relatively flat ground to create links-style movement and elevated viewpoints over the Firth of Forth. The routing moves through newly formed dune terrain and makes extensive use of the site's coastline and south-facing views. Dumbarnie is operated primarily as a visitor-oriented course rather than a traditional closed members' club.
The course is an 18-hole links golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,309m (6,900 yards). Designed by Clive Clark, the course originally opened in 2020. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Pro Shop, Restaurant, Bar, Putting Green, Chipping Area, Practice Facilities.
The idea for Dumbarnie developed more than a quarter-century before the course opened. Malcolm Campbell had long recognised the golf potential of the coastal site between Upper Largo and Elie and later introduced it to Clive Clark, who had wanted to create a links course in Scotland, the country of his grandparents.
Clark transformed relatively flat ground into a links landscape with substantial movement, varied playing angles and elevated positions that expose views across the Firth of Forth. Multiple tee positions allow the course to accommodate a broad range of golfers.
Construction ultimately produced an 18-hole par-72 course that opened for play in May 2020. The opening was affected by the circumstances of the COVID-19 period but the course rapidly established a place in Scottish visitor golf.
Dumbarnie's early tournament profile included hosting the 2021 Trust Golf Women's Scottish Open.
Dumbarnie operates as a visitor-focused links with advance reservations, practice facilities, a golf shop and the Old Barn bar and restaurant.
