Dumfries and Galloway Golf Club is an 18-hole parkland course on the western side of Dumfries. It should not be confused with Dumfries and County Golf Club, the separate Willie Fernie-designed club established in 1912 on the other side of the town. The Galloway course is published at 6,222 yards and par 70, with a rolling parkland character.
Historical material connects the design with Willie Fernie, winner of the 1883 Open Championship and a prolific Scottish course architect. Sources disagree over the club's earliest establishment date, with 1880 and 1894 both appearing, while accounts place the move to the present Summerhill site in the mid-1890s. Visitors are accepted and the course is supported by a clubhouse and membership operation.
