Origins

Elkdale's first nine holes were laid out in 1927. The club's history describes that original side as a traditional early-20th-century layout using tree-lined, rolling terrain. Although hole lengths and pars have changed in places, the club says the character of the original nine has largely survived.

Did You Know?
The club's history says John Elsen acquired the land and spearheaded construction of the back nine for approximately $100,000, including tee and green watering.

Development

During the mid-1960s, John Elsen acquired additional land and led construction of a second nine. The club's course page dates completion of the back nine to 1967. The newer side was built with longer holes and larger greens, turning Elkdale into an 18-hole course while retaining the earlier nine as part of the routing.

Today

Elkdale is now a public golf course that also sells annual memberships. The 18-hole layout measures 6,132 yards at par 70 and is supported by a clubhouse restaurant and lounge. Public leagues, golf outings and tee-time bookings are part of the present operation.
