Estela Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 links on Portugal's Atlantic coast at Estela, Póvoa de Varzim. The official course page gives a total length of 6,148 metres, a course rating of 72.7 and slope rating of 131. Its routing extends along roughly three kilometres of coastline.
The course was designed by Portuguese architect Duarte Sotto-Mayor. Estela Golf Club was founded on 27 October 1987 through an initiative led by golfers and businesspeople from northern Portugal, with Adalberto Neiva de Oliveira serving as the first president. A.
The course is an 18-hole links golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,148m (6,723 yards), course rating 72.7 and slope rating 131. Designed by Duarte Sotto-Mayor, the course originally opened in 1987. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Putting Green, Pro Shop, Restaurant, Bar, Club Hire, Golf Carts.
The club was founded on 27 October 1987 as the result of an effort by golfers and supporters, particularly industrialists from northern Portugal, to establish golf facilities in a region that lacked them. Adalberto Neiva de Oliveira led the initiative and became the first president, working with Jorge Quintas, Alberto Quintas Mendes, Bernardino Leite de Faria and others.
Duarte Sotto-Mayor designed the course as an 18-hole links using the exposed Atlantic coastal site at Estela.
In 1997 the founders, together with António Falcão and Amadeu Ferreira, bought a majority position from Sopete, S.A. The resulting Estela Golf, S.A. structure allowed participating club members to acquire equal shares.
The club's official course page states that Estela was considered the fifth-best golf course in Portugal in 2016.
