Eyemouth Golf Club is an 18-hole clifftop links course at Gunsgreenhill on the Berwickshire coast. The club dates to 1894 and played as a nine-hole course for its first 103 years before expanding to 18 holes in 1997. The White course measures 6,404 yards at par 72, with a course rating of 71.1 and slope of 125.
Its best-known hole is the par-three 6th, 'A-Still-No-Ken', played across a rocky inlet of the North Sea. The club also names the 13th 'Hawkness Monster'; from its furthest tee it is promoted as a 656-yard hole and the longest golf hole on mainland Scotland. Eyemouth has hosted Scottish and regional amateur events and welcomes visiting golfers.
The course is an 18-hole links golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,404 yards, course rating 71.1 and slope rating 125. Designed by James Bain, the course originally opened in 1894. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Pro Shop, Practice Facilities, Putting Green, Golf Buggies, Club Hire, Clubhouse, Restaurant, Bar.
Historical records show an Eyemouth golf course in use in 1894, with contemporary descriptions placing the early nine-hole layout on Gunsgreen along the seaside and low cliffs.
The old clifftop holes use the exposed coastal terrain directly, most notably at the 6th where the shot crosses a rocky inlet. James Bain is credited by golf-course directories with the original design.
For more than a century Eyemouth remained a nine-hole course. In 1997 it expanded to 18 holes and gained a new elevated clubhouse. The original coastal character survived the expansion, including the 6th hole.
The 6th, 'A-Still-No-Ken', has received repeated media recognition for the unusual carry across the sea. The long 13th, 'Hawkness Monster', is promoted by the club as mainland Scotland's longest golf hole from the furthest tee.
Eyemouth operates as an 18-hole visitor-friendly coastal club with year-round play, direct visitor bookings, practice facilities and clubhouse hospitality.
