The Glen Golf Club occupies North Berwick's East Links, where golf was played centuries before a formal nine-hole course was established in 1894. The present 18-hole course developed in the early twentieth century when North Berwick Town Council commissioned James Braid and Ben Sayers to create an expanded municipal layout. The club records a formal opening in June 1908.
Today the men's medal course is par 70 and measures 6,275 yards, while the published women's course measures 5,773 yards and plays to par 73. The routing occupies elevated coastal ground east of North Berwick and includes the well-known 13th Sea Hole.
The course is an 18-hole links golf course. It plays to par 70, 5,738m (6,275 yards). Designed by James Braid and Ben Sayers, the course originally opened in 1908. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Clubhouse, Restaurant, Pro Shop.
Golf was played on North Berwick's East Links long before a formal course existed. A nine-hole Rhodes Links appeared in 1894, with Sir Walter Hamilton-Dalrymple involved in shaping what became the Sea Hole.
Pressure on North Berwick's golf facilities led the Town Council to commission James Braid and Ben Sayers for an expanded municipal course. The 18-hole course was completed during the 1900s and formally opened in June 1908 with an exhibition tournament involving J.H. Taylor, Alex Herd and Harry Vardon.
The Glen remains an 18-hole coastal course, with the men's medal layout measuring 6,275 yards to par 70.
