About Golf Nippenburg

Golf Nippenburg is an 18-hole, par-71 course at Nippenburg 21 in Schwieberdingen, northwest of Stuttgart. Bernhard Langer designed the championship course, which the club says was built and opened in 1994. The White men's tees are published at 6,045 metres with a 71.9 course rating and 129 slope; additional rated tees extend through Yellow, Blue, Red and Orange.

The course quickly established a tournament profile, hosting the German Open in 1995, 1996 and 1997, won respectively by Colin Montgomerie, Ian Woosnam and Ignacio Garrido. The facility has continued to develop beyond the championship course, with a four-hole practice course, a two-level driving range, putting, pitching and chipping greens, practice bunkers and Toptracer technology. The 18-hole course can also be booked as nine holes starting from either the first or tenth tee.

The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 71, 6,045m, course rating 71.9 and slope rating 129. Designed by Bernhard Langer, the course originally opened in 1994. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Toptracer Range, Putting Green, Pitching Green, Chipping Green, Practice Bunkers, 4-Hole Practice Course, Restaurant.

Origins

The championship course was created on former agricultural land around the historic Nippenburg estate. The club's own history dates construction and opening to 1994 and credits Bernhard Langer with the design.

Did You Know?
The course hosted its first German Open only about a year after opening.

Design Philosophy

Langer integrated the routing into rolling former agricultural ground around Nippenburg, producing a par-71 course that rewards placement and course management.

Development

The facility later expanded its practice offering with a four-hole short course, enhanced driving-range facilities, a service centre and Toptracer technology.

Recognition

Nippenburg became nationally prominent almost immediately by hosting the German Open in three consecutive years from 1995 through 1997.

Today

The championship course remains the centrepiece of a broader practice and golf facility and can be played as either 18 holes or a nine-hole round starting at tee 1 or tee 10.
