Golf Valley Golfplatz München is a 27-hole golf facility in Valley, Bavaria, designed by Canadian golf-course architect David Krause. Its main Designer Course comprises three nine-hole loops, A, B and C, which can be combined into different par-72 18-hole routings. The longest currently rated combination is A+B from the men's Black/Gold tees at 7,073 metres, with a course rating of 78.7 and slope of 136.
Golf Valley was developed on roughly 154 hectares and officially inaugurated in June 2009 after approximately three years of construction. The design brief combined a demanding tournament-standard course with extensive areas reserved for habitat and low-nutrient meadow. The club describes the architecture as inspired by Scottish coastal golf, giving the inland property an 'Alpenlinks' character.
The course is a 27-hole links golf course. Designed by David Krause, the course originally opened in 2009. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Practice Greens, Golf Academy, Golf Lessons, Pro Shop, Restaurant, Golfpark.
Golf Valley was conceived as a large-scale golf development south of Munich with sporting ambition built into the project from the outset. Investor and operator Michael Weichselgartner commissioned Canadian architect David Krause, and construction began about three years before the formal inauguration in June 2009. Contemporary reporting described the site as being prepared not merely for normal club golf but with major tournament infrastructure in mind.
The club says two principles governed planning: a demanding modern golf course and extensive integration of natural habitat. Krause drew inspiration from the coastal courses of Scotland, while adapting that character to an inland Bavarian setting the club calls 'Alpenlinks'. Multiple tee positions were used to reconcile the growing hitting distances of elite players with playable distances for ordinary golfers.
The central layout was built as three nine-hole loops, allowing the Designer Course to operate as several different 18-hole combinations. A separate nine-hole Golfpark and unusually large practice infrastructure expanded the facility beyond the tournament course.
Golf Valley operates a 27-hole Designer Course, a separate 9-hole Golfpark, a 550-by-400-metre range, a large academy area, golf instruction, retail and restaurant facilities. Visitors may play the Designer Course subject to club-membership and handicap requirements, while the Golfpark has less restrictive access.
