Origins

Ideas for a Bad Windsheim golf facility date back to the 1970s and resurfaced in the mid-1980s. Construction began in June 1990, and Dietmar Mettal and Waldemar Heinlein are identified by the club as key initiators. Golfclub Reichsstadt Bad Windsheim was formally founded on 24 October 1990.

Did You Know?
The course was deliberately routed so both nine-hole loops return directly to the clubhouse.

Design Philosophy

The championship course uses an open landscape and relatively compact routing, with both nine-hole loops beginning and ending at the centrally located clubhouse. Wind, long total distance, bunkering and large greens provide much of the playing challenge.

Development

The driving range was constructed first. By May 1992 the six-hole short course and first nine championship holes were playable. The second nine opened in 1993.

After financial difficulties involving the operating company in the late 1990s, the club took over the facility and in 2000 acquired approximately ten hectares and the buildings.

Today

The non-profit club operates the 18-hole championship course, 3x6-hole short course, practice amenities, hospitality and visitor golf.
