About Green Ridge Golf Club

Green Ridge Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-71 public course in Johnson, New York. The property began as a nine-hole course developed by Harvey Izzo in the 1960s. Lance Enholm purchased the original front nine in 1980 and subsequently completed a second nine, which opened to the public in 2002.

The club credits Enholm with the course design. The two nines have deliberately different characters: the front includes shorter par 4s, while the back crosses hillier terrain and includes blind second shots. Small greens, narrow fairways, mature trees, bunkers, woods and water are recurring features.

The course is an 18-hole golf course. It plays to par 71, slope rating 119. Designed by Lance Enholm, the course originally opened in 1964. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Golf Cart Hire, Clubhouse, Patio, Golf Museum, Food and Beverage.

Origins

Green Ridge began as a nine-hole golf course developed by Harvey Izzo. The club's historical timeline says the original course opened in 1964, although another summary on the same site gives 1965 as the year built.

Did You Know?
Owner Lance Enholm opened an on-site golf museum in 2008 after collecting golf memorabilia for more than 50 years.

Design Philosophy

The course's two nines have distinct characters. The original front nine includes comparatively short par 4s, while the later back nine uses hillier ground and incorporates blind second shots. Small greens, narrow fairways, mature trees, bunkers, woods and water define the overall playing character.

Development

Lance Enholm purchased the front nine in 1980. He later completed the second nine, opening it to public play in 2002 and creating the present 18-hole course. In 2008 he opened an on-site museum to display a golf memorabilia collection accumulated over more than five decades.

Recognition

The club promotes its back nine as having been voted the best back nine in Orange County.
