Is Molas Golf Club at Pula in southern Sardinia is a 27-hole golf facility consisting of an 18-hole Championship Course and the nine-hole Yellow Course. The original course was conceived in the early 1970s and opened in 1975. Its first 18 holes were created through a collaboration between Cotton, Pennink & Partners and Piero Mancinelli; the Championship Course plays to par 72 over 6,383 metres.
In 1999 the property expanded with the nine-hole, par-36 Yellow Course designed by Franco Piras. Is Molas has a substantial tournament history: it hosted the Italian Open in 1976, 1982, 2000 and 2001 and the Volvo Masters in 1989, won by Vijay Singh. The resort publishes visitor green fees across low, mid, high and peak seasons, with separate weekday, weekend/holiday and nine-hole prices.
The course is a 27-hole resort golf course. Designed by Piero Mancinelli and Cotton & Pennink and Franco Piras, the course originally opened in 1975. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Putting Green, Pitching Green, Practice Bunkers, Golf Academy, Golf Lessons, Clubhouse, Restaurant, and 4 more.
The Is Molas golf project was conceived in the early 1970s as part of the development near Pula in southern Sardinia. Design of the original course was entrusted to Cotton, Pennink & Partners, working with Piero Mancinelli, and the club opened in 1975. It was the first golf course in Sardinia.
The original 18-hole Championship Course combines broad fairways with large greens and bunkers described by the club as American in scale and style. The 18-hole layout measures 6,383 metres and plays to par 72. The later Yellow Course was designed separately by Franco Piras and therefore represents a distinct second design within the 27-hole property.
Is Molas quickly entered tournament golf, staging its first Italian Open in 1976, won by Baldovino Dassù. It hosted the championship again in 1982. The Volvo Masters followed in 1989, with Vijay Singh winning.
In 1999 the club expanded to 27 holes when Franco Piras designed the nine-hole Yellow Course. The Italian Open returned in 2000 and 2001.
The club states that during the 1980s its Championship Course was ranked among the world's top 100. Its four Italian Opens and the 1989 Volvo Masters established a substantial professional-tournament record, while later events have included the European Girls' Team Championship, Alps Tour and Italian International Amateur Championship.
Is Molas operates as a 27-hole resort golf facility with the Championship and Yellow courses, a 30-position practice area, putting and pitching greens, instruction, clubhouse dining and a published seasonal visitor-rate structure.
