Jekyll Island Golf Club is a public multi-course golf facility on Jekyll Island, Georgia. Its current layouts are Great Dunes, Pine Lakes and Indian Mound, so it should not be represented by one combined par, yardage or scorecard. Great Dunes is the most historically significant component.
Walter J. Travis designed the original Great Dunes course in the 1920s; coastal erosion, storms and wartime pressures eventually reduced that course to nine holes. A major project led by Brian Ross of Ross Golf Design and Jeff Stein restored the surviving Travis holes and created nine additional Travis-inspired holes on adjoining land.
The course was designed by Walter J. Travis. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Pro Shop, Driving Range, Practice Facility, Club Hire, Golf Carts, Snack Shop.
Golf on Jekyll Island has a long architectural history, with Great Dunes tracing directly to Walter J. Travis. The original course was an 18-hole coastal design, but erosion, storms and wartime pressures caused the loss of its back nine.
In 2023 the Jekyll Island State Park Authority selected Ross Golf Design to lead a major Great Dunes project. Brian Ross and Jeff Stein restored the surviving Travis nine and created nine Travis-inspired holes on portions of the former Oleander property. The rebuilt Great Dunes opened November 1, 2025.
The revived Great Dunes received immediate national attention, including Sports Illustrated recognition as Best Reimagined Public Course for 2025 and GolfPass editor recognition among notable new courses played in 2025.
Jekyll Island Golf Club operates Great Dunes, Pine Lakes and Indian Mound as separate public courses. Indian Mound is seasonally closed during summer months.
