Origins

Kapolei was developed as a modern Oahu golf course and opened in 1995. Architect Ted Robinson created the layout, bringing the water-oriented design approach for which he became known.

Design Philosophy

Robinson incorporated five lakes and approximately 80 bunkers while keeping greens visible from the teeing grounds. Wide fairways and generous chipping areas provide room to play while the water and elevated greens create the principal strategic demands.

Recognition

Kapolei became a professional tournament venue soon after opening, hosting the LPGA Hawaiian Ladies Open between 1996 and 2001 and later professional senior golf events.

Today

Kapolei remains a public 18-hole course with visitor tee times, four principal sets of tees, GPS-equipped carts and a practice operation.
