Killiney Golf Club is a historic nine-hole course on Killiney Hill in south County Dublin. The club was organised in 1902 and its original course opened on Easter Monday 1903 after being laid out by James McKenna, then the professional at Carrickmines. The compact original site occupied about 35 acres and was subsequently altered, including reversal of the routing after the first season and a major reconstruction following the acquisition of another 12 acres in 1931.
Killiney remains a nine-hole club and welcomes visitors, with 18-hole rounds created by playing the circuit twice. Its elevated position provides views across Dublin Bay, the city and surrounding mountains. The club publishes separate 2026 visitor rates for nine and 18 holes.
The course is a 9-hole parkland golf course. Designed by James McKenna, the course originally opened in 1903. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Pro Shop, Restaurant, Buggy Hire.
Local residents began organising the club in 1902. Captain E. P.
Stewart, George C. Ashlin and George F. Stewart were central to the project, and James McKenna of Carrickmines was asked to assess and lay out the site.
Construction intensified early in 1903 and the course officially opened on Easter Monday.
McKenna worked with a compact, elevated site of roughly 35 acres. After the first season George Coburn and J. H.
Barrington recommended reversing the routing and constructing new greens and tees, an early example of the course evolving in response to actual play.
The club bought additional adjoining land in 1931, increasing the site by 12 acres and enabling a major reconstruction. The course has remained a nine-hole layout while being progressively altered and maintained across successive generations.
Killiney remains a nine-hole members' club that welcomes visitor golf and publishes nine- and 18-hole visitor rates.
