Origins

Lord Sackville of Knole Park drove the opening shot on November 1, 1924, marking the formal opening of J. F. Abercromby's newly completed course within the estate.

Did You Know?
Future Ryder Cup player Sam King worked as a 14-year-old caddie at the club's opening and later served 31 years as Knole Park's professional.

Development

During the Second World War, obstructions were placed across the fairways to prevent enemy gliders landing. The club later rebuilt after wartime disruption, lengthened the course to par 70 in the 1960s, enlarged its clubhouse and installed course irrigation.

Recognition

The course is regularly included in published Top 100 England lists and has attracted national amateur championships while retaining its historic estate setting.

Today

Knole Park remains a members' club that also accepts visitors, with six published tee configurations and a substantial practice and clubhouse operation.
