La Cala Resort is a multi-course golf complex in Mijas containing three separate 18-hole championship courses designed by Cabell B. Robinson: Campo Asia, Campo América and Campo Europa. The Royal Spanish Golf Federation records the resort's foundation in 1991, while the individual layouts developed over a longer period.
Campo Asia is the oldest championship course and plays to par 72; Campo América is also par 72 according to the resort's current information and measures 6,009 metres; Campo Europa measures 6,014 metres and plays to par 71. The resort also has a short academy course and extensive practice facilities.
The course is a 54-hole resort golf course. Designed by Cabell B. Robinson, the course originally opened in 1991. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Putting Green, Chipping Green, Practice Bunker, Golf Academy, Clubhouse, Pro Shop, Restaurant, and 1 more.
La Cala was developed on difficult hill country in the Sierra de Mijas. Cabell B. Robinson had recently left the Robert Trent Jones organisation when he undertook the early courses, which became important projects in his independent design career.
Campo Asia and Campo América formed the original championship offering. Campo Europa was subsequently added, giving the resort three distinct 18-hole courses. Renovation work has continued, including a major programme on Campo América.
La Cala operates three championship layouts, an academy course, extensive practice facilities and a golf academy as part of the wider resort.
