About La Manga Club North Course

La Manga Club's North Course is an 18-hole, par-71 resort course in Cartagena, Murcia. Robert Dean Putman designed the layout in 1971. The official course page lists the white tees at 5,755 metres with a course rating of 71 and slope of 132; yellow tees measure 5,426 metres at 69/131, blue 5,187 metres at 73.3/139 and red 4,962 metres at 71.9/132.

The routing uses palm trees, lakes and the natural gullies locally known as barrancos, and is shorter than La Manga's South Course. An unusual feature of the current official course guide is the provision of alternative holes 17A and 17B; the stated 5,755-metre total uses the par-four 17A. The resort's current golf portfolio identifies North, South and West courses, so the database name 'North & East Course' should not be interpreted as two current layouts.

The course is an 18-hole resort golf course. It plays to par 71, 5,755m (6,294 yards), course rating 71 and slope rating 132. Designed by Robert Dean Putman, the course originally opened in 1971. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Pro Shop, Golf Lessons, Club Hire, Golf Carts, Locker Room, Restaurant, Accommodation.

Origins

The North Course formed part of the original golf development at La Manga Club and was designed by Robert Dean Putman in 1971.

Did You Know?
The current official course guide provides two alternatives for the 17th hole, labelled 17A and 17B.

Design Philosophy

Putman used palm trees, lakes and the site's natural gullies, known locally as barrancos. Compared with the South Course, the North is shorter and uses tighter fairways and relatively large greens.

Development

La Manga Club evolved into a three-course resort, with the North operating alongside the South and West courses. The present North Course includes an unusual alternative-hole arrangement at 17.

Today

The North is one of three current 18-hole courses at La Manga Club and is supported by golf-cart hire, equipment rental, professional services, restaurants and resort accommodation.
