Launceston Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 members club at Opossum Road, Kings Meadows, Tasmania. The organisation was established in 1899, initially as Mowbray Golf Club, and moved to its present site before the new course opened on 13 April 1901. It adopted the Launceston Golf Club name in 1908.
The club identifies the course as Tasmania's oldest 18-hole golf course. Its standard White layout measures 5,808 metres, with a published course rating of 71 and slope of 120; the longer Blue course measures 6,013 metres. Although Launceston describes itself as a private members club, it welcomes visiting golfers who hold a valid GolfLink number and handicap, making semi-private the closest access classification.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 72, 5,808m (6,352 yards), course rating 71 and slope rating 120. The course originally opened in 1901. It is semi-private, welcoming both members and visitors. On-site facilities include Pro Shop, Practice Fairways, Practice Nets, Putting Green, Chipping Area, Clubhouse, Golf Cart Hire, Locker Facilities.
The club was established in 1899 as Mowbray Golf Club, initially playing within Mowbray Race Course. In 1900 it changed its name to Tasmanian Golf Club and purchased the present Kings Meadows site later that year. The new course opened on 13 April 1901.
The organisation adopted the Launceston Golf Club name in March 1908. The club records that it was Tasmania's only 18-hole course until 1921. In February 2021 Contour Golf Design Group was appointed to prepare a Course Improvement Plan, followed by a course masterplan commission in 2022 intended to make adjustments while retaining the existing course character.
Launceston has hosted the Tasmanian Open Championship on numerous occasions and staged the Australian Junior Championships in 1988.
The club remains at Kings Meadows as a private members club that also accommodates eligible visiting golfers.
